New from Signals: catch manuscript content issues instantly with Sleuth AI signals

With a growing number of manuscript submissions, publishers need faster ways to triage what should be sent for editorial assessment and what risks wasting valuable editor time. Signals now goes even deeper into manuscript analysis, automatically spotting issues in the manuscript content and helping publisher teams make better decisions quickly.

Our AI research integrity assistant, Sleuth AI, is no longer waiting for you to ask a question about the manuscript — it has become a proactive investigation partner, surfacing potential issues before you read the manuscript.

Since we launched Sleuth AI last year, customers love its ability to quickly explore manuscripts and uncover subtle, hard-to-spot issues. Building on these learnings, we’ve taken the next step — automatically detecting key signals that users are looking for, saving even more time when triaging manuscripts.

We’re already helping publishers to identify a number of key issues, including:

  • Missing conflict of interest, funding and ethical approval statements where they are required
  • Indicators of generative AI misuse in figures and text
  • Erroneous or irrelevant sections of text

New Sleuth AI signals can be generated quickly based on customer needs and emerging integrity trends, and improved rapidly based on feedback to reduce false positives and increase accuracy. Soon, Sleuth AI signals will be customisable — users will also be able to toggle specific Sleuth AI signals on and off, depending on their journal’s unique requirements.
